THE MINISTER’S LETTER

A big welcome to Longbridge Methodist Church, your place of choice and worship. On the Sunday before Advent, we are reminded of the nature of the one who is to come. We call him 'king' but his kingdom is different from what people expect. The gospel passage (John 18: 33-37) reminds us that God's kingdom is not one of power through violence but it is rather where truth, life, right and just relationships are valued and lived out with love. This Sunday is also dedicated to women against violence. May we value one another and also, as we approach World Aids Day on the first Saturday of December, let us embrace all the people who are affected by this pandemic. As we wait for the birth of Christ at Christmas, we also wait for the second coming of the son of God. Let us prepare our hearts for his birth and second coming.

On a sad note, Dorothy Round who served this church as a steward, Church Council Secretary, flower arranger, Communion Steward and a member of the choir, has joined the church Triumphant and our memories and thoughts are with her family and friends. We will miss her greatly. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
