THE MINISTER'S LETTER
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
As we continue our journey of faith, I would like to encourage us to reflect on the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Jesus continued, “Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Jesus teaches us that the greatest commandment is love - love for God and love for our neighbour. Our faith is not measured only by our attendance at church, our knowledge of Scripture, or our participation in church activities, but also by how deeply we love God and how faithfully we demonstrate that love to others.
Loving God with our whole being means putting Him first in our lives, trusting His promises, obeying His Word, and remaining faithful in prayer and worship. Whatever challenges we face, may God always remain at the centre of our homes, our relationships and our decisions.
Loving our neighbours as ourselves calls us to show kindness, compassion, forgiveness and generosity. It means reaching out to those who are lonely, supporting those who are struggling, welcoming newcomers, caring for the vulnerable and embracing the diversity within our church and community. We may come from different backgrounds and cultures, but in Christ we are one family.
As the Longbridge Methodist Church family, may we be known not merely for what we believe, but for the love we share. Let our words encourage, our actions bring hope, and our fellowship reflect the love of Christ. May those who enter our church experience a community where everyone is valued, welcomed and treated with dignity.
This week, I invite each of us to ask three simple questions: Am I putting God first? Am I showing love to those around me? Is there someone I can encourage, forgive or support?
May the Holy Spirit help us to live out the greatest commandment every day, remembering that love is at the heart of our Christian calling.
May the love of God fill our hearts, unite our fellowship and shine through our lives.
With every blessing and prayers for you all.
Yours in Christ,
Cleopas
